Work/Life Anxiety Balance

Post date: Nov 03, 2014 1:13:53 AM

As I get older I am increasingly dismayed to find that a lot of articles on The Onion are getting less funny and more true, this article about work/life anxiety balance being a good example.

I must say though, as far as life anxiety goes I have had a welcome reprieve with the fact that I have been offered a room at my friend Sam's house in Brunswick West; it is equidistant from Tim/Hamish and Karl/Livvie's houses (about 20 minutes walk), about 1km from a train station and less than 5 minutes walk from a tram (the 55, same one you caught to my current house mum & dad). Maria, it is also walking distance from the nice/cheap Vietnamese place (among many many other nice/cheap Vietnamese places, this is Melbourne after all!) we went to with my friends last time you visited. The rent is also $160 less a month! Will confirm with him in the near future but it looks like I'm good to go as soon as the current person in the room leaves in the middle of next month.

I intend to hire my regular moving company, Tim & Karl (plus Hamish, if available). They are always late and they complain a lot but they do work cheap - in the past a bottle of Jack Daniels or Jaegermeister between them has covered it! When I moved out of Nicholson Street they were so late that by the time they had arrived I had already carried all of my things downstairs and was waiting with them on the side of the road - they couldn't believe their luck. In stark contrast was when we moved Hamish last year - we arrived at 12.30 on a 35 degree day and he hadn't even begun packing... I learned that day never to move house in January/February if you can avoid it.

Also today I will collect the laptop my amazing parents have bankrolled from JB Hi-Fi and possibly get a new phone on contract from Vodafone; I'm wondering if this is how Kanye West feels? I feel very lucky, regardless!

Would be great to hangout tonight, especially in light of the message from Mark & Stace this morning - I am available whenever you guys are free!
