God save the Scots?

Tonight we were reminded that there are many verses to the Natonal Anthem "God Save The Queen" Mostly we sing only 1 or 2 but in fact there are 6 verses. The last verse is

Lord grant that Marshal Wade

May by thy mighty aid

Victory bring

May he sedition hush

And like a torrent rush

Rebellious Scots to crush

God Save the Queen

Marshal Wade was actually an Irish soldier who rose to become a Brigadier in the English Army. In 1745 he led the British Army to quell the Jacobite uprising in Scotland. As part of this campaign he built roads in the Hifghlands of Scotland that still are used today. He also formed what has become one of the most well known Scottish Army regiments - the Black Watch.

This verse of GSTQ was apparently only used in England (surprise) and only for a short time. However it's very existence does raise questions for many Scottish Nationalisrs about whether GSTQ is an appropriate national anthem for a united Britain.
