Tartan

Family blogToday is apparently the day we should be celebrating our Scottish heritage. According to Wikipedia in Australia and NZthis is tartan day. July 1 chosen because On 1 July 1782 a 40 year old law banning the wearing of tartan was repealed. Between 1742 and 1782 you could be sentenced to 7 years transportation for wearing tartan in Scotland

So in honor of the Scottish tradition which says you take in the tartan of your mothers clan this is the day when we celebrate the Boyd

And if you fancy wearing tartan today or any other day this is one you can wear with no fear of transportation.
