Shirley Boys Protest

Also related to Shirley Boys, last night Tim & I were at the TV filming of new comedy show coming to New Zealand - The Year That Was.

It had two NZ comedians each reflecting on a different year, last night being 1996 and 2003.

One of the comedians was this guy - Jarred Christmas - an alumni of both Shirley Boys and Hagley Community College. He was reflecting on 1996, the year in which he turned 16 and left Shirley Boys. He decided to leave because he was the only boy in the school who applied to take Drama as an optional subject. He was called into a meeting with the guidance counsellor who said he was the only applicant and they can't run a class with only one pupil, but he should try Economics instead as they were very similar.

Jarred promptly moved to Hagley where he could participate in musicals to his hearts content.

The whole night was hilarious - Adrian you would have definitely appreciated the jokes on his two choices of high school!
