At home after quite busy weekend for me. Lachlan ow back at home with his parents and while Tony and relaxing on sofa Lachlan is probably at this moment being raced over to play water polo as he re- enters his busy, busy world.
At Lachlan's request we went to Te Papa before we went to airport. Te Papa, our national museum announced yesterday it plans to open a second site - in Manukau. This second site will allow it to:
Show off some of the toanga (treasures) that are mostly in storage;
Be more relevant to people of South Auckland (feels like "dreaming" but apparently people of South Auckland underrepresented in current visitor numbers; and
Take some of the toanga out of Wellington to a less earthquake prone destination
Mmmmmmm
Any away as always at Te Papa we found something interesting - a great exhibition on "The Way We Were" - sport, culture, technology from different decades Was done well including the side exhibition on protest marches
Loved the poem from Denis Glover which is in photo
"I think of what will yet be seen
In Johnsonville or Geraldine"
I would not have thought of Johnsonville as a place that inspired poetry but then neither would I have thought that Wainuiomata would breed a First Lady of Australia - and today both have proved to be true.
