The unbroken circle

We have enjoyed our wedding anniversary in Raglan today. Been slightly unusual in that we have been with Simpsons not with family or on our own. Of course 2 years ago we were all together celebrating another wedding. Happy anniversary M&T. Remember at Maria and Tim's wedding we celebrated 99 years of marriages - Joy & Darren + Chris & Letesha + Sandra & Tony + Nana and Papa. By my calculations those same 5 couples today celebrate 108 years of wedded bliss or marriage anyway. I know I have said before but it remains true that the Sandra and Tony of 1979 were very, very different people to the people we are today. There is a lot of luck and hard work that means we have liked/loved/ been able to live with each other throughout the changes.

The comments on my FB post today suggest that Tony and I are either the "perfect couple" or "great role models". Never sure that we see ourselves as that. It is certainly true that staying married requires a degree of stubbornness and tenacity. It is equally true that staying married for us now is easier than any possible alternative. We see ourselves as lucky
