The Uh-oh moment

Been to Clannad concert tonight and v much enjoyed it. Their music hasn't changed in 30+ years which is probably not surprising as they sing the traditional Gaelic folk songs of 300 years ago . .

I did also hear today that for the people who have everything it is possible to get more. If you want luxury in the loo you could buy a roll of gold toilet paper - at the princely sum of $1000000! We won't.

Today I had a meeting with Paula Bennett, Minister of Social Welfare. I was there with Prof Stephen Bevan from Work Foundation in London and Nick Leach from pharmaceutical company. Purpose of visit was to talk about the research that supports current govt moves to get people off welfare and into work. "work is good" which you really do have to say carefully because it was the sign above Auscwich . .

Anyway as a person who often speaks and thinks at the same time and uses jokes frequently I do know that sometimes people don't get the joke and it is an uh-oh moment. Stephen who is a very good speaker and very easy to talk with was talking about the various projects to support people into work that are being trialled in the UK and Europe and said "Dept of Work and Pensions in UK has more pilots than British Airways" - and there was deadly silence from Moninster Uh-oh. The. She gave a serious reply " Of course there will be lots of pilots in this area". Moving right along.

HiyaBeen busy and auspicious day. As per texts I am officially recovered from June accident. I will never be able to thank you all enough for the support over last four months. Tony obviously bore the brunt of the challenges - but starting with M&S my saints during the first 10 days and including Maria, Tim and Adrian for the incredible moral support I have felt cherished an d loved even during the grumpy times.
