Singing like Ringo

Heard wonderful item on radio today about the Beatles. Apparently it became a tradition for each album that the Beatles created one song would be written for Ringo to sing. Now Ringo's singing voice might have been better than mine - but it wasn't that good so each song that was written for him had to work with his limited vocal range. So on the Sgt Pepper album the song that was written for Rinog ahd lines that said:"What would you do if I sang out of tune

Would you throw tomatoes at me?"

As it was being recorded they changed the words - because from the time George Harrison told a news conference that he loved jelly beans the Beatles were continually bombarded with jelly beans during a concert. The thought of being bombarded by tomatoes was too much to contemplate so the words became:

"What would you do if I sang out of tune

Would you stand up and walk out on me?"

And thus a classic was born . . .

And even when I sing out of tune you love me. . .
