Remember to check your next pay

Love you

And the message for you - if you think you have been overpaid by$700,000 or even $70,000 it is best to check first . . .

May you never be in that position

Rosa, in case you were wondering, was the principal of a very snobby school here - Methodist Ladies College. She had been a popular principal. About a month ago it was reported that she had been overpaid to the tune of $700,000, and hadn't noticed. (In her favour this was over a few years, but stilllmeans more than $5 or $10 per pay) Initially she was suspended and was being investigated for fraud. Corporate Services Manager has since put his hand up and said "Rosa is innocent, I did it". Board still have lost confidence in Rosa. Rosa is paying back $100,000 but has been paid out (what bets pay out was more than $100,000?) and now has no job.

School community are protesting and want her reinstated.

Meanwhile some members of the Methodist church are questioning what such an exclusive school has to do with traditional Methodist values which is much more about sharing wealth and supporting poor and needy than accumulating wealth. Not sure that Charles Wesley, founder of Methodism, would approve.

We are in Day 5 in Victoria and starting to get a sense of Australian media and politics. We have not joined the "Bring back Rosa" crusades though I think we saw one yesterday.
