There can be only one - or perhaps two or even more

Woman in Tennessee has a baby - isn't that sweet? Thinks about a name - decides on Messiah. Goes to register birth.

Told she can't have that name - only Jesus can. Takes the equivalent of Births, Deaths & Marriages to court - Judge says the name "Messiah" has been "earned by one person, Jesus Christ." So instead of Messiah the baby is registered as Martin.

Mother obviously not that keen on Martin so takes the judgement to a higher authority - No not God but US Supreme Court who say giving the baby the name Martin is unconstitutional. Martin is not really that bad a name but apparently the US court's purpose was to determine the last name of the child, not his first name.

Imagine what scope that leads for children to get terrible names - provided the surname is Smith

Ok so I have been reading too much . . .
