Voice of free speech or artist?

I see Elton John also spoken out this past week - he is due to perform in Moscow this week but this is under question now as Russian authorities can't be convinced that he won't promote a gay lifestyle. I think in this instance the Russian authorities are right it is highly likely that Elton John will promote a gay lifestyle . .
