In NZ apparently we celebrate World Whisk(e)y Day on May 17th. In other parts of the world it is celebrated on March 27th. We are busy celebrating some other anniversary on that date.

Whisky of course is the real spelling if you have Scottish heritage but if that is your spelling you probably want the 27th March date because that appears to have been the original.

16May was originally World Bourbon Day then got expanded to include Irish and Japenese whiskeys. I think whisky drinkers thought two days were twice as good.
