Great story tonight about the Northland spiders with a 75m web covering road and swamp in Hikurangi

It would appear this is the work of more than Charlotte. Apparently millions of baby spiders have hatched and each spider sends out a single thread in a process known as "balloooning" The thread & spider get picked up by the wind and transported to different parts of th land. Presumably there wasn't much wind yesterday as they didn't get far

If you google largest spider web you get the Australian bark spider with an 80 foot web _ which is much smaller than this But I guess that is the work of one Charlotte not millions of baby charlottes
