Today was a once in two decade event with a partial solar eclipse visible from most of the North Island.  Fortunately the weather in Wellington improved enough for us to catch the sight.
I was at Medical Centre getting the vaccinations for my trip to Vietnam.  The staff at Medical Centre were entranced by the spectacle and were all outside taking turns at looking at eclipse through special glasses - made the delays longer than ever.

Image was not quite as dramatic as this - I understand this was the Northland view

Next one we might get to see is 2038 - I'll be 79
