Probably not that auspicious really

I heard today that the word auspicious which now commonly means "sign of a bright future" actually has its origins in Greek fortune telling.  Auspicions actually divined the future by reading the flight patterns of birds

A fortune teller is said to disambiguate which is quite a word in itself
