No moa

Really can't let it go past without comment . . .no one else has.  Pretty sure it would have made news in Australia and UK, probably in the bizarre section

Yesterday long serving MP Trevor Mallard was speaking to business mans group in Wainuiomata.  Now I have to be careful because of course Wainuiomata is my turangawaewae . . . But I didn't know there were enough businessmen in Wainuiomata to meet for lunch ( no women obviously). Anyway at this lunch apparently Mr Mallard spoke about Labour policies on employment, economy, housing and said he'd love to see the moa brought back from extinction to be walking around the Wainuiomata hills.  Guess which part of his speech was picked up??
Was not his  best move
The moa jokes have been worse than the Bulls ones like What do you call a moa with an engine?
(Motor moa)

So from this experience I have learned three things:
  1. Wainuiomata still has enough businessmen to form a lunch club
  2. Media reporters can find their way over the hill to Wainuiomata but can't necessarily discern important stuff once they get there
  3. Trevor Mallard has not yet worked out that the media take him for a duck
