Mary Poppins revisited

Going to see Saving Mr Banks with the erstwhile, serial speeding criminal Sandra, I was struck by the fact that Walt Disney was perfect. I had believed otherwise but obviously the Disney corporation would know best. While the MP writer minced and stormed her way across the screen, good ol Walt was always a picture of genial propriety, puzzling manfully to help her out. Finally, a ten minute monologue on the American way seemed to do it. Otherwise, the movie was cleverly constructed and even thought provoking, with striking flashbacks to the events in her early Australian life leading up to the 'not quite'  Mary. Much of the life of Helen Goff (the writer's actual name) was quite realistic.
