Hiya
Been a quietish weekend.  Still having a challenge in setting up new laptop but we will get there.

Today I was reading an article about the end of the world.  Apparently to date there have been at least 10 dates in which the end of the world has been prophesied but didn't happen.

And in case you thought this was a modern phenomenon you would be wrong.
The Assyrians thought the world would end in 2800 BC.  The clay tablets say "the signs of the end are clear.  Bribery and corruption are rife and children no longer obey their parents". End in fact wasn't nigh
Roman soothsayers predicted 389BC but sooth wasn't truth.  The year 1000 because of the 000s also didn't eventuate.
1666 was predicted as the end of the world because of the 1000+666 (mark of devil) but great fire of London had to suffice
Jehovah's Witnesses have had several goes at the end of the world 1881, 1910, 1914, 1918, 1925, 1941, 1974 and 1984.  Not sure what theirnext date might be
Of course last year was predicted as being the very last year by Harold Camping.

But mark this date 23/12/2012.  The Mayan calendar stops on this date and apparently can't be extended.  Though the NASA website has 21/12/2012 not 23rd.  They also say not true

So don't do your Christmas shopping too early
